My love of all things cake started from a very young age. From memories of Grandma's Fondant Fancies to baking with my Mum. It was she who taught me to bake. We spent a lot of time baking together & often entered our efforts into local horticultural shows. With, I hasten to add, some success. Victoria sandwiches to Melting Moment biscuits, you name it, I’m sure between us we have a certificate for it.

The craftwork side, came from my Dad. He was a great artist & cake decorator. I’ve lost count of just how many cakes were made over the years. My Mum would bake & flat ice them & my Dad would design & create them. He would build up pictures, scenes, characters, using only royal icing, a veg knife & a tooth pick. Then he would hand paint them. I spent hours, sitting & watching him work.

Cake decorating has changed immensely. Be it contemporary, traditional, vintage, each now use modern methods of creation. My style has evolved with the market but I know that without the fundamentals learnt from my parents, I would not have half the knowledge or the passion that I do.
